Hey Boos,
In my opinion, there is nothing worse than looking gorgeous stepping out the door, and look in the mirror halfway
through the day only to find your makeup running down your face. No Bueno!
Since I live in the sunshine state a.k.a Florida, I go through this on a daily basis!
I have prepared some helpful tips and my own melt proof foundation routine so you can see how to stay gorgeous all day during this very hot summer!
How-to Steps Foundation Routine
|
Moisturizer
It is very important to use moisturizer before applying any foundation. This will help make your foundation stay in place, and acts as a barrier between humidity and your skin. ;) I used my homemade moisturizer Coconut Oil, which is a great replacement for moisturizer and it helps blurs my pores as well! Make sure you spread evenly though out your face. |
|
Concealer
I always apply my under eye concealer next, make sure you used the right color for your concealer, a great way I can tell if it matches my skin tone, I swatch a sample on the back of my wrist and blend, since the back of your wrist is the same shade as your face you will be able to find your perfect shade without the hassle. The trick is to conceal the dark area below your bottom lid using the
‘triangle method’, instead of applying concealer directly onto the
‘bags’, which will actually make them more noticeable. Then blend evenly with a beauty sponge. |
|
Swirl and Tap Method
Before setting your concealer, you must learned the Swirl and Tap Method, It help to make sure you don't have too much foundation on your brush but just enough to set without being cakey. |
|
Setting your Concealer
I always set my concealer, this will help to make sure your concealer will stay in place and will not crease. Use the Swirl Tap Method and sweep across blended concealer. Powder will give you a soft flawless look, it makes your skin appear perfect. If you have pretty close to flawless skin, then go with a powder that
is Translucent, It wont add that extra color to your face that you don't
need... because, makeup lines are terrible! |
|
Highlighting
Now to my favorite part highlighting. Highlighting helps brings out your high points in your face, one thing to consider is using a highlighter one shade lighter then your foundation to really brighten up those points. I love using highlighter on the bridge of my nose to make it look straighter and my forehead for more dimension. You can also try under your brow bone as well. Anywhere you want to brighten up your features. |
|
Contouring
Now to contouring.. unlike highlighting, contouring defines the hallows of your face, another thing to consider is the shade of contouring you want to do I suggested a powder that is two shades darker then your foundation, anything to dark will be to obvious and will make you look to define. Focus on the hollows of your face like the underside of your cheek bone and your temples to strengthen out your structure of your face. All you need to do is make a fishy face LOL and gently sweep powder across your underside of your cheek bones. |
|
Blush
Next is blush, blush help bring some color back to your face, and is very easy to do, all you need to do is make a smile and gently sweep across the apples to your cheeks for instant color. |
|
Blending
The most important step is to BLEND! Blending help blend everything together. Run a fluffy brush with natural fibers over the finished look in a
circular motion. It's important to hold your brush really
softly. Holding the brush toward the end of the handle will give you a
softer, more perfecting finish. I'm using a little powder to blend and you can too. |
|
Setting ALL your Makeup
And last but not least, Setting your makeup. Setting your makeup will help with keeping all your makeup in place. I use a homemade setting spray, just hold bottle at least 12inch from your face and spray two pumps and let it dry. Now your makeup is ready to last all day. |
|
Tips:
Don't Forget SPF! it will help protect your skin from harmful UV rays, you can you SPF in your moisturizer or a tinted moisturizer :)
If you makeup does start to look shiny, use some blotting papers they come in handy, because adding more powder will make your face look cakey.
